What is the One Sunderland Expo?
On the 15th of February, I had the pleasure of being one of three finalists shortlisted for the Small Business of the Year award at the One Sunderland Expo. This was a huge honour. Just Caring Legal was set up in 2016, and it has been incredible to see the business grow and gain greater recognition. At One Sunderland Expo, I was joined by SunFM and NatWest who hosted and ran the event. Sunderland Expo gave me the chance to hear about and network with other small businesses. This was a brilliant and insightful experience. When you’re building a business, you’re often focused on clients and your work. It’s rare to get so many people with similar experiences all in a room together.
Nominations.
I was nominated for the progress and growth I made within the start-up phase of the business, and it is all thanks to my clients. I hope the progress I have made in helping families get the healthcare funding they are entitled to is shown through this nomination. My clients are what come first in my business, and I think that’s why Just Caring Legal has gained attention since it was set up. I want to keep advocating for families who are often facing huge stress and feeling incredibly alone in the complex care system. Those of you that have reached out to me so far have shown me your gratitude and I cherish every comment.
Ambitions for the future.
I would like to congratulate the winner April from Prep & Deliver and the other joint runner-up, Chris Pipe at Planning House. It was great to be shortlisted for an award and I look forward to what the future holds. My ambition for myself and Just Caring Legal is to help families get their NHS Continuing Healthcare funding and support families who may be eligible for a refund of wrongly paid care fees. It can be a daunting and scary process to go through. The assessment stage (with DST and the checklist) can feel complicated and overwhelming, but I do my best to guide clients through it. My business is all about empowering my clients to ensure that they can try to access the funding that they deserve.
